Build the future of software development with Witted Witted connects top software and technology professionals with the most ambitious projects on the market. Whether you thrive as an independent freelancer or prefer employment within a close-knit tech community, we have a collaboration model that fits you. We are now looking for an experienced Embedded Developer to join us. You can come on board as a freelancer through Witted Partners or apply for employment with Witted Mavericks . Either way, you get an impactful client project, competitive terms and a community of top professionals. Embedded Developer for EV fast-charging solutions Our client builds fast-charging solutions for electric vehicles. You will join a team developing two products in parallel. The two products run on very similar technology stacks, so developers can move between them as needs change. You’ll work on the embedded backend, close to the hardware, writing modern C++ on embedded Linux (Yocto). The work involves power electronics, real-time control and safety-critical systems, as well as a wide range of industrial and network communication protocols. Teamwork matters a lot here: the client is looking for a good team player who enjoys solving problems together with others. Assignment details: Start: December 2026 / early 2027 Allocation: 100% Duration: 12+ months, long-term role (first contract 12 months) Location: Lahti, at least 1–2 days per week on site. Working on the train counts on on-site days Language: English. Finnish is a plus, and it’s required for employment with Witted Mavericks In this role, you will: Develop embedded backend software in modern C++ (C++20 and newer) and C on embedded Linux built with Yocto. Work with real-time control systems and control loops for power electronics, in a safety-critical environment. Implement and maintain communication over industrial and serial buses (CAN, CANopen, Modbus TCP, SPI, I²C) and network protocols (TCP/UDP sockets, HTTP, MQTT, Ethernet). Build and improve test automation, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, unit tests and automated tests with Python and Robot Framework. Keep code quality high with static and dynamic analysis and profiling, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Enterprise. Work closely with your team across two parallel product lines. What we expect from you: Solid experience in embedded software development with C and modern C++ (C++20 or newer). Hands-on experience with embedded Linux, preferably Yocto-based distributions. Experience with power electronics, real-time control systems and/or safety-critical software. A broad understanding of industrial and serial buses (CAN, CANopen, Modbus TCP, SPI, I²C). Network programming skills: TCP/UDP sockets, HTTP, MQTT, Ethernet and layer 3 networking concepts. Experience with test automation and testing practices, such as unit testing, Python and Robot Framework. A collaborative mindset. You’re a strong team player who communicates openly. Fluent English. Nice to have: Background in power electronics, drives, elevators, energy or industrial equipment (strong plus). Experience with HIL test environments. Experience with static and dynamic analysis tools such as Clang-Tidy, Coverity, Valgrind and profilers. Experience with GitHub Enterprise CI/CD pipelines. Finnish language skills. Why Witted? (freelance or employment) As a freelancer through Witted Partners: access to top-tier projects, full independence and the support of Witted’s extensive sales network, without any of the admin work. Employed through Witted Mavericks: a competitive salary, comprehensive employee benefits, a supportive community and the flexibility to switch projects within the company. Hiring process Send your application. We review it, and if everything looks good, we invite you to talk in more detail. First conversation: we get to know each other. Second conversation: we dive deeper into your expertise. Client introduction: we introduce you to the client and support you through their interview process.
