Job Description
The Impact You'll Make Join Danfoss Drives Oy and help shape how advanced power-conversion products and system solutions connect reliably to power systems worldwide. As our Grid Code Certifications Specialist, you’ll take technical ownership of grid-code compliance and certification, turning complex requirements into practical solutions that work in real power systems. You’ll contribute to technologies supporting renewable energy, energy storage, data centers, marine electrification, and industrial power systems. Your expertise will help influence product roadmaps and solve complex grid-integration challenges. This role combines hands-on compliance engineering with technical leadership. You’ll work across product development and collaborate with customers, grid operators, certification bodies, consultants, and other external partners. What You’ll Be Doing Lead grid-code compliance engineering by translating international, national, and grid-operator requirements into clear requirements for products, software, hardware, controls, simulation, validation, and testing. Drive verification and certification activities from gap assessments and simulation through hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and laboratory testing, coordinating the technical evidence needed for certification and customer acceptance. Assess performance and resolve compliance challenges by reviewing converter behaviour, controls, simulation models, and test results, then working with development and validation teams to identify root causes and implement effective solutions. Shape grid-code strategy and product direction by monitoring evolving regulations and industry requirements and using these insights to guide product functionality, simulation models, validation capabilities, and certification roadmaps. Lead technical collaboration with customers, transmission and distribution system operators (TSOs/DSOs), certification bodies, consultants, laboratories, sales, and engineering teams to support grid-connection approvals and strategic customer opportunities. What We're Looking For Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, Power Electronics, Control Engineering, or a related technical field. Grid integration and power-conversion expertise: Experience in grid-code compliance, power-system engineering or studies, renewable energy, energy storage, converter-based generation, certification, or grid-connected power-electronics development. Strong understanding of converter and grid behaviour: Knowledge of voltage and frequency support, active and reactive power control, fault ride-through, dynamic grid support, power quality, protection, and grid-following or grid-forming operation. Simulation, validation, and standards knowledge: Practical familiarity with tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, PSS®E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, or equivalent, alongside relevant grid requirements such as EN 50549, ENTSO-E requirements, VDE-AR-N, IEEE 1547, UL 1741 SB, or national TSO/DSO codes. You don’t need experience with every standard, but you should be comfortable analyzing new requirements and translating them into engineering actions. Technical ownership and communication: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to prepare credible technical evidence and turn complex regulatory and engineering topics into clear recommendations for engineering teams, customers, certification organizations, consultants, and grid operators. Excellent written and spoken English is essential. What You'll Get from Us At Danfoss, you’ll contribute to technologies that accelerate electrification and support a more sustainable energy future. You’ll collaborate with experts in power electronics, grid integration, energy storage, renewable energy, simulation, and power-system compliance, with opportunities to influence products used across global markets. This role gives you significant technical ownership and opportunities to expand your expertise through challenging projects, mentoring, training, knowledge sharing, and collaboration with global customers, grid operators, and certification organizations. Ready to Make a Difference? If you’re excited about grid integration and want to help solve some of the technical challenges behind the energy transition, we’d love to hear from you. You don’t need to meet every possible requirement to apply. If your experience gives you a strong foundation for this role and you’re motivated to grow your expertise with us, we encourage you to start the conversation.
