IB Physics and High School Mathematics Teacher

Location: Dar Essalam American School, Rabat, Morocco Type: Full-Time, Starting Date: August 2027 Academic Year: 2027-2029 Division: Secondary School Reports to: Secondary Principal About the Role Dar Essalam American School (DAS) in Rabat, Morocco is seeking an IB Physics and High School Mathematics Teacher to join our international team from August 2027. The teacher delivers challenging, engaging learning that develops scientific understanding, mathematical reasoning and confidence in problem-solving. The primary responsibility is IB Diploma Programme Physics, alongside high school mathematics. DP Mathematics may also be assigned according to school needs and the teachers qualifications and experience. The Profile of a DAS Teacher guides professional practice: student-centered learning, meaningful relationships, the DAS 5Cs, the DAS identity, reflection and professional growth, and contribution to the school community. Teaching and Learning \-Plan and teach DP Physics at the assigned level in line with the applicable IB subject guide. \-Build conceptual understanding, scientific inquiry, experimental design, laboratory safety and data analysis skills. \-Teach high school mathematics courses, developing mathematical reasoning, fluency and problem-solving. \-Prepare students for IB internal and external assessment, applying assessment criteria accurately and giving constructive feedback. \-Differentiate instruction for students different levels, languages and support needs, and use scientific and mathematical technology purposefully. Students and School Culture \-Know students as individuals and build a classroom culture of curiosity, rigour, perseverance and respect. \-Maintain clear routines, accurate attendance, punctuality and active supervision, with strict attention to laboratory safety. \-Follow safeguarding, professional boundaries, health and safety and incident reporting procedures. Collaboration and Community \-Plan collaboratively with science and mathematics colleagues and work with Secondary School leadership and the DP Coordinator on curriculum and assessment expectations. \-Maintain continuity between high school and DP courses. \-Keep subject knowledge and IB practice current through professional learning and engagement with subject guides and programme requirements. \-Communicate clearly with students and families about learning, progress and concerns, and contribute to school events and the Major Learning Plan. Qualifications and Experience \-A bachelors degree in Physics or a closely related field and a recognized secondary teaching qualification, with sufficient mathematics expertise for the assigned courses. \-Successful secondary teaching experience, including IB Diploma Physics. Experience teaching Physics at both Standard and Higher Level is desirable. \-Strong knowledge of physics, experimental design, laboratory safety, scientific investigation, IB assessment and high school mathematics. Relevant DP Mathematics teaching experience is desirable. \-Strong English communication, organization, collaboration and relationship building skills. \-Commitment to safeguarding, professional ethics, cultural responsiveness and ongoing professional learning. Preferred Skills \-Experience in international or culturally diverse environments. \-Familiarity with technology-based educational solutions. \-Proficiency in French and/or Arabic is an advantage.
