Location: Dar Essalam American School, Rabat, Morocco Type: Full-Time, Starting Date: August 2027 Academic Year: 2027-2029 Division: Early Childhood and Elementary School, PK3 through Grade 5 Reports to: Elementary School Principal About the Role Dar Essalam American School (DAS) in Rabat, Morocco is seeking an Elementary School Physical Education Teacher to join our international team from August 2027. The teacher creates a safe, inclusive and engaging environment where students develop movement skills, physical confidence, teamwork and healthy habits, delivering the approved PE curriculum for assigned classes from PK3 through Grade 5. The Profile of a DAS Teacher guides professional practice: student-centered learning, meaningful relationships, the DAS 5Cs, the DAS identity, reflection and professional growth, and contribution to the school community. Teaching and Learning \-Plan progressive units and lessons from the approved PE curriculum and learning outcomes. \-Develop fundamental movement skills, coordination, balance, fitness and game understanding through age-appropriate activities, dance and rhythmic movement. \-Build physical literacy and enjoyment of lifelong activity, bringing the DAS 5Cs to life through movement, play and teamwork. \-Assess progress in skills, understanding and participation, give constructive feedback and communicate progress against agreed expectations. \-Adapt activities and equipment with teaching assistants and student support staff to remove barriers to participation for all learners. Students and School Culture \-Know students as individuals and build a culture of belonging, effort, fair play and care for one another. \-Maintain clear routines, accurate attendance, punctuality and active supervision, with strict attention to safety in all activities. \-Follow safeguarding, professional boundaries, health and safety and incident reporting procedures. Collaboration and Community \-Plan collaboratively with homeroom teachers and specialist colleagues and connect PE with classroom learning where appropriate. \-Work with Athletics and Activities staff and contribute to after-school sports, clubs and school events as assigned. \-Build respectful, responsive relationships with parents and caregivers and communicate clearly about learning, progress and wellbeing. \-Maintain safe, organized facilities and equipment and coordinate resource needs with school leadership. Qualifications and Experience \-A bachelors degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sports Science, education or a related field, and a recognized teaching qualification appropriate to the assigned classes. \-Successful experience teaching PE to elementary students, with understanding of childrens physical, social and emotional development. Early Childhood teaching experience is desirable. \-Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching gymnastics, swimming, dance and rhythmic movement, and the ability to coach sports after school. \-Relevant swimming instruction, coaching, first aid/CPR or lifesaving qualifications are desirable. \-Strong English communication, organization, collaboration and relationship building skills, and commitment to safeguarding and ongoing professional learning. Preferred Skills \-Experience in international or culturally diverse environments. \-Familiarity with technology-based educational solutions. \-Proficiency in French and/or Arabic is an advantage.
