Job Description
NAPA Design Solutions offers a comprehensive solution for 3D ship modeling and design tools covering hull form design and hydrodynamics, hydrostatics and stability, structural design, and information sharing across the shipbuilding process. These are among the most powerful tools in the industry, trusted by the world's largest shipyards and classification societies.
The role: what is it about?
The team is now looking for a Software Developer who will focus on application usability development with .NET, C#, WPF and XAML. Development, testing, and maintenance of the NAPA ship design solutions are part of your daily work. In this role you will mainly work on developing NAPA Engineer, a modern design and computing platform for naval architects. It combines trusted NAPA calculation capabilities with a redesigned, intuitive user experience and a powerful visual approach to engineering workflows. We use agentic coding capability across our development teams, which means using AI coding agents to plan, write, test, review and refactor code, and doing it in a way that improves both delivery speed and code quality. We expect you to use these tools in your daily work, to help us learn where they work well and where they do not, and to share those learnings with your team.
You will be working with
Windows desktop applications, native libraries, third-party components, including a 3D graphics library, database engines, a licensing solution, and more .

Your team and job location
You will work in an international team where your closest colleagues are experienced software developers and naval architectural domain experts who will support you in your role. You will also interact with local and global colleagues from various teams in software development, UX design, DevOps, and sales. Together with them you will also shape how we use AI coding agents in practice, from tooling choices to review practices.
Our office is located in
Helsinki (Ruoholahti), and you can work at the office or in hybrid mode . We hope to meet you at our Helsinki office regularly.
What are we looking for?
What matters most:
you're curious about UI development, energized by AI-assisted development tools, and hungry to solve real problems as a self-starter . If the visual side of UI excites you too, that's a big plus.
Our Ideal Candidate Would Have
Academic degree in a relevant field such as computer science, mathematics, physics, naval architecture, or engineering Completed basic studies and/or having a good understanding of algorithms, data structures, and OOP (object-oriented programming) 2+ years of experience in building native Windows desktop applications Experience in UI design Experience using WPF, C#, and XAML Understanding of user experience and the ability to apply it in your own design work Hands-on experience of using AI coding assistants or coding agents in real development work, together with the judgment to review, test and take responsibility for what they produce Interest in NAPA’s domain (maritime business) Additionally, The Following Skills Would Be Considered An Advantage Experience with agentic coding workflows Knowledge or studies in usability Experience with database solutions Experience in automated testing methods Knowledge of software reliability and maintainability Experience in CAD or CAE applications You do not need to tick every box on these lists.
