Job Description

(for this role, we need you in our Helsinki office! A few days a week minimum. And, this role requires compliance with applicable export control and sanctions laws. As such, we are unable to consider candidates who are citizens of sanctioned or embargoed countries) Are you the type of person who wants to build a single board computer from scratch, essentially the brain that will run all software and outputs image to AR glasses and smart helmets? We are working on something brand new, which means this is your chance to build something from the ground up. You will get to specify everything, you will have control over it, and you will get to rapidly prototype this first and iterate fast, first. Sounds like fun, right? If you have experience designing boards like raspberry pi, firmware development and how Linux systems boot, this job was made for you.. Basemark is an AR, automotive, defense and compute & graphics software product company. We are based in Helsinki, with satellite offices in Germany and the US, and a team of around 80 people worldwide. Real-time 3D graphics, GPU-compute programming and design are what we do, and we ship the platform that turns that expertise into: wow. Team: Defense The Job: Based on the client's requirement you and our SW engineers will analyze how desired results could be achieved with a given SOM. You will drive the full hardware lifecycle for a single board computer, including component selection, schematic capture and circuit design, covering power delivery network (PDN) design, thermal management, and high-speed PCB routing (SI/PI). You will iterate rapidly and you don’t need to be too concerned about getting it perfect before testing, we want rapid prototyping and we can improve it step by step, as you go. The board you are developing is essentially a pocket-sized computer from concept to a finished product, for Augmented reality/smart glass use cases, for example in a state-of-the-art Smart Helmet. You will own the design and architecture of the device from the ground up, and you can bring your ideas to life quickly via fast prototyping. You will work closely with a very talented team of software engineers, who will have your back! Requirements: Proven experience taking an embedded device from concept to production Schematic design and PCB layout and routing experience on complex, multi-layer boards Experience working with NXP i.MX, Qualcomm, etc. SoCs Understanding of high-speed digital design, HDMI/DP, DDR memory, PCIe, etc. USB-C & DisplayPort Alt Mode, design USB-C connectivity including power delivery negotiation, DP Alt Mode video-out Experience with EDA tools like Altium Designer, KiCad or similar Experience working across many different domain such as power, digital and RF Solid understanding of high-speed digital design Self-driven Can bring ideas into prototypes fast Debugging and fixing PCBs in case of design errors Soldering experience Board validation experience Quick learner Plus skills Experience in firmware development Experience in Linux, Android, Zephyr, QNX, etc. Experience with cameras and / or optical systems Please apply here, and then go through our 1st round interview!
