We are looking for a strategic minded and hands-on Area IT Manager to manage local IT development and support activities in Finland and to oversee our regional IT operations across Ruukki locations in Central Eastern Europe. This role combines leadership, operational responsibility, and strategic execution in a dynamic international environment.
We are looking for a strategic minded and hands-on Area IT Manager to manage local IT development and support activities in Finland and to oversee our regional IT operations across Ruukki locations in Central Eastern Europe. This role combines leadership, operational responsibility, and strategic execution in a dynamic international environment.
The role has two main managerial responsibility areas; Firstly, oversee local IT development and support activities in Finland, ensuring business continuity from the IT perspective. And in this context act as line manager for the area IT team: manage performance, recruitment, budgeting, and other HR responsibilities. Secondly, you will lead a team of regional IT managers in Central and Eastern Europe: you will set goals, monitor progress, optimize resource allocation and ensure that best practices are evaluated and implemented as part of the knowledge sharing process.
All in all, you will contribute to the implementation of Ruukkis IT and business strategies and roadmaps. And when fit for purpose act as project manager for selected initiatives, such as IT and production capability development, acquisitions, and carve-outs.
The preferred location is Alajärvi, or any of our location in South Ostrobothnia, Finland.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure day-to-day IT support and development activities are aligned with Ruukki and SSAB IT policies (executed by internal teams and external vendors).
Lead the development of the Area Europe IT roadmap and resource planning.
Manage team-level IT costs, including annual budgeting and development proposals.
Oversee contracts and vendor management, including invoicing.
Collaborate with SSAB common IT on infrastructure and application development.
Define and implement collaboration models with business stakeholders across Europe.
Act as a general point of contact for infrastructure-related topics within Ruukki Construction IT management.
What we are looking for
· Strong knowledge of business applications and IT infrastructure (including security).
· Experience in strategy and roadmap execution.
· Solid understanding of business process development.
· Strong project management skills.
· Familiarity with agile methodologies and service delivery frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
· Proven vendor management skills.
· Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
· Has excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
· The ideal candidate communicates fluently in Finnish and in English both written and oral.

Location
Your home base will be Ruukki Alajärvi (South Ostrobothnia) Finland. Some domestic and international travel is required.
