Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator - Fitness Centre

Position purpose The Occupational Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a safe, healthy, clean and well-organised environment for customers, employees and visitors of the fitness centre. The role combines occupational health and safety coordination, facility cleanliness and hygiene, safety administration, and customer support. The position also has particular responsibility for welcoming, advising and guiding international and non-Finnish-speaking customers. Key responsibilities Coordinate the fitness centre's occupational health and safety activities and support compliance with applicable workplace health and safety requirements. Conduct regular workplace and facility inspections, hazard identification and risk assessments, identify potential safety risks, and coordinate corrective and preventive actions. Maintain safety documentation, including risk assessments, inspection records, incident reports, safety instructions, training records and other relevant OHS documentation. Support incident investigation and follow-up, report safety concerns, and help implement measures to prevent recurrence. Coordinate and maintain practical emergency preparedness, first-aid and fire-safety arrangements and provide safety guidance to employees when required. Monitor the cleanliness, hygiene and general condition of the fitness centre, including training areas, changing rooms, sanitary facilities, reception and other customer areas. Perform and coordinate routine cleaning duties and ensure that cleaning materials, hygiene products, first-aid supplies and other essential facility supplies are adequately maintained. Identify safety, cleanliness, hygiene or facility deficiencies and ensure that they are reported and addressed promptly. Welcome and assist international and non-Finnish-speaking customers, provide orientation to the fitness centre and explain facilities, access procedures, safety practices, rules and appropriate use of the premises. Support reception and front-of-house operations when required, including customer check-in, visitor management, answering enquiries, telephone communication and general administrative record keeping. Promote a proactive safety culture and contribute to a professional, welcoming and well-organised customer environment. Requirements NEBOSH certificate completed within 5 years (or alternatively, NEBOSH course active with graduation before the commencement of the work). Professional OHS certifications: Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA), Basic Fire Fighting, Basic First Aid, Incident Investigation and Legal Liability. Excellent command of English, both spoken and written, enabling professional customer service, safety communication, guidance and documentation in an international environment. Relevant occupational health and safety competence and the ability to conduct workplace inspections, identify hazards and maintain safety documentation. Strong customer-service, communication, organisational and administrative skills. Relevant competence The role utilises competence in occupational health and safety, SHE representation, workplace inspections, hazard identification and risk assessment, safety documentation, incident investigation, first aid, fire safety, administration and front-desk customer service.
