Tiivistelmä työpaikkailmoituksesta: The BioInterfaces group at Tampere University is hiring a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in computational biophysics to coordinate a project on membrane proteins, particularly lipid scramblases, using molecular dynamics simulations. Responsibilities include coordinating the project, running and analysing high-throughput coarse-grained and atomistic MD simulations, supervising a PhD student, and preparing publications and presentations. Required qualifications are a PhD in a related field, strong molecular dynamics experience (e.g., GROMACS) and basic programming skills (e.g., Python), with tool development, de novo protein design or machine learning experience considered advantages, and fluency in English. The group is currently looking for a postdoctoral researcher to coordinate its research activity in the field of membrane proteins and particularly scramblases. Job description The group recently obtained funding for a project to study and design lipid scramblases. This project involves high-throughput coarse-grained and atomistic molecular dynamics simulations, biasing techniques, constant-pH simulations, protein design, and the development of an online database. The project also involves several collaborators that will support the work experimentally. Your tasks will involve coordinating the daily work on the project; designing, performing and analyzing simulations; communicating with the collaborators; supervising the doctoral researcher working on the project; preparing manuscripts for publication; and disseminating the findings at meetings and conferences. A doctoral researcher (PhD student) with a complementary skillset will also be hired to work exclusively on the project. Requirements You should have a PhD degree in physics, chemistry, biosciences, or a related subject area, preferably with a solid background in molecular dynamics simulations (e.g., GROMACS) and at least basic knowledge of programming (e.g., Python). The demonstrated ability to develop simulation or analysis tools, to design de novo proteins, or to apply machine learning methods to simulation data are considered major advantages. You are expected to be able to work independently, supervise the work of students, communicate with the experimental collaborators, and potentially contribute to the teaching activities of the unit. You should be fluent in spoken and written English. International experience and networks are also appreciated.
