Job Description

Civil Engineer Location: Vaasa, Finland Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract About the Role We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer to join our Construction team for High Voltage Substation EPC Projects in Vaasa, Finland. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of civil engineering works, ensuring that all civil deliverables—including earthworks, reinforced concrete foundations, drainage systems, roads, and associated infrastructure—are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project specifications, European standards, and company requirements. This role provides an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging, large-scale energy infrastructure projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams. Key Responsibilities Civil Engineering Delivery - Execute and manage civil works packages including earthworks, drainage systems, roads, and reinforced concrete foundations. - Ensure all civil works are delivered in accordance with project scope, specifications, and applicable standards. - Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. Technical Coordination - Coordinate with design teams, contractors, and site personnel to ensure constructability and technical alignment. - Raise, manage, and close Requests for Information (RFIs) and resolve engineering issues in a timely manner. - Coordinate interfaces between civil, electrical, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines. Construction Support & Site Supervision - Provide on-site engineering support during construction and installation activities. - Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and project schedules. - Support site inspections, verification activities, and construction quality checks. Quality Assurance & Compliance - Ensure all civil works comply with project specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. - Identify and manage non-conformances and implement corrective actions where required. - Participate in audits and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Project Delivery - Support project planning, scheduling, and reporting of civil engineering activities. - Track project progress and contribute to milestone achievement. - Support commissioning and project handover by ensuring civil deliverables are complete and compliant. Qualifications - Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. Experience - Proven experience managing civil construction activities on EPC, High Voltage Substation, Power Infrastructure, or Industrial Construction Projects. - Experience working in complex, high-risk construction environments. - Familiarity with European construction standards and regulations is considered an advantage. Technical Skills - Strong understanding of civil engineering construction methods, sequencing, and execution. - Experience with: - Earthworks - Reinforced Concrete Foundations - Drainage Systems - Roads and External Infrastructure - Ability to read and interpret: - Engineering Drawings - Technical Specifications - Method Statements - Understanding of quality management systems and compliance processes. Soft Skills - Strong leadership and site coordination abilities. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. - Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams. - Strong organisational and problem-solving skills. - Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
