Pat Pending is building Limpet — a device that lets anyone seamlessly upgrade the storage of any laptop. Everyone who's been offered a pre-order has bought it within the day. We would rather fail as a company than adopt a subscription model and believe form can follow function so long as it is beautiful. The two weeks You'd be at FR8 (fr8.so), a five-floor campus in Helsinki housing a competitively selected international group of start-ups, with demo day at Slush (slush.org) — the largest venture gathering in the world. Flights both ways, your own room, all food, two private chefs, sauna, gym, laundry taken care of. You bring a laptop. The work spans macOS and iOS, filesystem and device-level plumbing via Swift, making the whole thing demo-solid in front of a lot of people. What you'd get out of it There are only a few of us, so you will start by building on the next iteration of Limpet straight away. Two weeks is also an audition, and we'll be straight about that: if it works, there's a real conversation about staying on — founding engineer, with a stake through our employee share pool. No promises on the outcome, only that the door is open and your name is on what ships.
