Tiivistelmä työpaikkailmoituksesta: The Mechanical & Simulation Engineer will work through Academic Work in Tampere for a global power‑grid client on new product introduction of high‑power valve submodules. The role entails mechanical design updates, version control, thermal, seismic and electric‑field simulations, and hands‑on production support during ramp‑up. Required qualifications include a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, experience with Ansys Mechanical, and proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as Creo or SolidWorks. The candidate must be proactive and analytical with fluent English, and prior experience in power electronics, HV equipment, NPI or thermal/busbar/sheet‑metal design is a plus. We are looking for a skilled Mechanical & Simulation Engineer to join a world-leading energy sector client in Tampere! About the role In this position, you will work as a consultant through Academic Work, placed at a global industry leader specializing in power grid solutions and energy infrastructure. You will join the New Product Introduction (NPI) team, focusing on the mechanical updates, advanced simulations, and production implementation of high-power valve submodules. You will play a key role in verifying complex mechanical designs under thermal, seismic, and electrical stresses, ensuring a smooth transition from engineering to full-scale production. Work tasks Mechanical Design: Executing mechanical modifications and version updates for high-power submodules and valve assemblies. Simulation & Analysis: Performing thermal simulations, seismic vibration testing/analysis, and electric field simulations to validate mechanical integrity. Production Support: Managing design changes, overseeing successful implementation into production, and providing hands-on technical support during manufacturing ramp-up. Tool Utilization: Utilizing 3D CAD platforms and Advanced Simulation software to model and test components. We are looking for A relevant degree ( B.Sc . or M.Sc .) in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field. Previous experience using Ansys Mechanical for simulations (e.g., thermal, structural, or seismic analysis). Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling tools, particularly Creo and/or SolidWorks . A proactive, analytical, and quality-driven mindset with the ability to bridge design and production phases. Fluency in English (written and spoken). Any of the following is considered a plus: Previous experience in power electronics, high-voltage equipment, or FACTS/HVDC systems. Background in New Product Introduction (NPI) processes or R&D environments. Practical understanding of thermal management, busbar design, or sheet metal manufacturing.
