Työn kuvaus
Nolwenture was established in 2012 and continues to grow and adapt, with an exciting portfolio of national and international clients across many industry sectors. We work together to make our clients' vision a reality and enable their core operations to be more efficient. In 2025 we became part of the ProVerse Group, who were a customer and for whom we continue to work with to create immersive experiences, with the communication and visualisation needed for remote operations. Nolwenture remains independent to offer a wide range of software development services. We are now looking for:
**Software Test Engineers – Trainee to Mid-Level (QA Focus)** The Test Engineers at Nolwenture play a key role in our project teams, working closely with developers, Product Owners and clients to make sure the software we build is reliable, high quality and fit for purpose. This role is open to candidates ranging from trainee level, just starting out in their QA career, through to mid-level engineers with a few years of testing experience.
You will design and execute test plans and test cases, perform manual and automated testing across our web and mobile applications, and help build out our automated test suites and CI/CD test pipelines alongside the rest of the team.
As you grow with us, you'll take on more responsibility for planning testing activities, liaising directly with clients on quality and acceptance criteria, and supporting the project team with light project coordination; there is a genuine path here into more senior QA, project management or engineering roles.
**Why work with us?**
We are more than just software coders. At the core of our value proposition is the strength of our team, highly experienced and with diverse backgrounds and interests. We invest in our people, tools and processes, technical skills and capabilities.
Our shared mindset and strong ethics are reflected in our working culture. Everyone has a voice across the company, as it should be in a creative industry, where we have trust and a safe environment to innovate.
**Requirements**
We expect you to
- have an interest in, or some experience with, software testing and quality assurance (trainee and junior candidates welcome – we will support your development)
- understand, or be keen to learn, testing fundamentals: test case design, exploratory testing, regression testing and bug reporting
- be comfortable working with, or eager to learn, test automation tools and frameworks such as Jest, Cypress, Playwright, Selenium or Appium
- have some familiarity with API testing tools (e.g. Postman) and issue tracking in Jira
- comply with our documentation processes and best practices
- be fluent in English as it is our operating language
- have good communication skills and be comfortable working directly with our clients, including supporting light project management tasks as you gain experience (e.g. assisting with story mapping, requirement gathering or sprint and task coordination)
- be willing to adapt to our ways, learn new things and challenge yourself
- (and this is important!) readily ask others for help and return help where needed
- a background in development and coding
- be familiar with, or keen to work with, Claude Code and other AI-assisted tools as part of our everyday workflow
Our engineering team works mainly in NodeJS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React and React Native, so exposure to testing within a JavaScript-based stack is a bonus, though not essential – we're happy to teach the specifics.
You will benefit from being familiar with Scrum project methodology and tools within the Atlassian suite (Jira, Tempo, Confluence). Testing experience within games, simulation or data visualisation environments (e.g. Unity, WebRTC stream processing, DevOps, UI, robotics or GIS) is also of interest to us.
Furthermore, an interest in AI/ML, or in exploring how AI tools can support testing and quality assurance, will be highly appreciated.
**Work location**
Joensuu headquarters. Other possible locations include Kuopio and Helsinki, and working remotely is also a long-term option.
**How to apply**
We are only accepting applications from candidates with a Finnish residence permit for work or EU/EEA/Swiss citizenship. Please send an email with a covering note along with your CV to [email protected] and we will explain the process further from there onwards.
