About the role
In this role, you will play a key part in developing and scaling the software environment used to validate Ouras products before they reach manufacturing. The role combines software architecture, hands-on development, embedded systems and CI/CD, with a strong focus on building reliable and reusable test solutions across products.
You will work at the intersection of embedded firmware, hardware and PC-controlled test environments. A key part of the role is understanding how these systems connect and ensuring that the right validation can be performed efficiently and reliably.
The test environment is already up and running, so you will have an existing foundation to build on while bringing your own expertise and ideas to further develop the platform. Together with the firmware team, you will also help improve and formalize the product firmware testing and validation process, enabling validation to be performed more frequently and systematically.
You will be part of a four-person Manufacturing Test Engineering team and work closely with firmware and R&D teams.
You are offered
- An independent role where you can influence the future development
- Support of experienced colleagues
- Epassi lunch benefit and extended occupational healthcare
Work tasks
As an MTE Senior Software Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and architecting manufacturing test software and test infrastructure
- Designing and improving the systems and interfaces connecting the Device Under Test (DUT) with the test station software stack
- Working with embedded systems and hardware-controlled test environments, including Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL)
- Developing and improving CI/CD environments to support reliable and repeatable validation
- Improving the firmware testing and validation process together with the firmware team
- Making the validation process more systematic, scalable and repeatable
- Writing, reviewing and debugging production-quality code across the software stack
- Working with test data to identify issues, evaluate test results and use feedback from the data to improve the testing process
- Solving complex integration and debugging problems across software and hardware
- Contributing to the development of common tools, frameworks and practices that can be reused across multiple products
- Supporting and mentoring other engineers within the team and collaborating closely with firmware and R&D
We are looking for
- Proven experience architecting software systems designed for reuse and scale across multiple products or programs, rather than one-off or single-product implementations
- Strong hands-on software development skills, with the ability to write, review, and debug production-quality code across a full stack — from low-level hardware communication up through data and reporting layers
- Experience working with embedded software and hardware-near development
- Understanding of how embedded systems connect with PC-based software and test environments
- Experience with embedded communication protocols and interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, USB or CAN, and comfort defining or working with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for embedded or test software, including integration and deployment across distributed manufacturing or test environments (Github actions, Jenkins, etc).
- Strong programming skills in Python and embedded C/C++
- Experience with GitHub and software configuration/version management
- Experience working with test data and using data to evaluate and improve testing or validation
- Full working proficiency in English and ability to work fully on-site in Oulu
