Find out more on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baa_aiJ4L7E What you’ll do: The Lead Firmware Test Engineer is responsible for leading design testing, lab activities, and design verification and validation (V&V) of embedded and application software for Critical Power Solutions technology development projects, including UPS and power conversion products. This role provides technical leadership in defining test strategies, automation frameworks, and validation approaches, while guiding test execution, mentoring engineers, and ensuring high-quality, safe, and timely product releases. The position also plays a key role in the safe operation, oversight, and continuous improvement of engineering laboratory environments at Eaton Finland. Define and own overall test strategies and verification approaches for embedded firmware and system level validation of UPS and critical power systems. Lead the development of comprehensive test plans, test specifications, and verification matrices aligned with product requirements, standards, and program objectives. Provide technical direction across manual testing, automated testing, and HiL/MiL/SiL validation strategies, ensuring consistent and robust coverage. Drive risk based testing, ensuring critical failure modes, fault handling, and safety related behaviors are thoroughly validated. Lead and contribute to manual and automated testing of embedded firmware functionality, performance, load, and fault scenarios. Design, develop, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks using Python based tools, Robot Framework, and supporting libraries, as well as Java and/or C# where applicable. Define and enforce automation standards and best practices, including keyword driven, data driven, and modular test architectures using Robot Framework to maximize reusability and coverage. Integrate Robot Framework based automation into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing, faster feedback, and improved release readiness. Review and analyze automated and manual test results, logs, and reports, and guide teams in debugging failures and identifying root causes. Ensure test automation and execution support validation across Hardware in the Loop (HiL), Model in the Loop (MiL), and Software in the Loop (SiL) environments. Provide technical oversight for UPS and critical power lab testing, including real time control behavior, communication interfaces, and system interactions. Ensure safe use of high power lab environments, enforcing electrical safety standards, best practices, and compliance requirements. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution with a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience, OR Master’s degree in a relevant engineering field with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience Strong experience in embedded firmware testing, validation, and system level verification Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership or mentoring in test or validation roles Hands on experience working in high power engineering and test lab environments Skills: Extensive experience with UPS systems, power conversion products, or critical power infrastructure Hands on experience with high power testing, including 400-480 Vac and 1500 Vdc equipment Strong experience using Python for test automation framework
