Build more than a legal function As Senior Legal Counsel, you will work side by side with our CEO, leadership team and colleagues across the organization at one of the most exciting stages of Solar Foods' journey. As our first in-house lawyer, you'll establish how legal supports the business, helping Solar Foodists make informed decisions while balancing legal excellence with business objectives and laying the legal foundations for our next stage of international growth. This role is designed for someone who enjoys working close to where decisions are made, takes ownership and wants to see the direct impact of their expertise. Your contribution will extend far beyond legal advice: you will help the business move forward with confidenceas a trusted legal advisor. What will your everyday work look like? Your work will be broad, varied and genuinely international. While no two days are exactly alike, five key themes will define your role. 1. Enabling commercial growth A significant part of your work will focus on drafting, negotiating and advising on commercial agreements, strategic partnerships and technology collaborations. Working closely with customers, suppliers and commercial teams across multiple markets, you'll help create agreements that support Solar Foods' continued commercialization. 2. Protecting innovation You'll help safeguard one of Solar Foods' greatest competitive advantages—its technology. Together with external patent attorneys and specialist advisors, you'll support intellectual property matters, licensing questions and innovation-related legal work in a company where technology lies at the very core of the business. 3. Ensuring listed-company compliance and governance As a publicly listed company, Solar Foods operates in a regulated environment where legal advice must support transparency, good governance and market confidence. You will advise on listed company obligations, disclosure matters, insider management, stock exchange rules, governance documentation and shareholder meeting processes helping ensure that the company meets its regulatory responsibilities with our CFO while continuing to grow. 4. Partnering across the business Whether supporting commercial and delivery teams or senior leadership, you'll translate complex legal questions into practical, commercially sound advice. Your role is to help colleagues make informed decisions while balancing legal excellence with business objectives. 5. Establishing legal operations As Solar Foods' first in-house lawyer, you'll have the opportunity to define how legal operates across the organization. You will develop governance, ways of working and practical legal processes that evolve alongside the company as it continues to grow, including managing …. external legal partners/companies. You will report to our CEO Rami Jokela. The role carries significant strategic influence across the organization and provides the opportunity to contribute to leadership discussions and the continued development of the company, even though the role is not part of the company’s Leadership Team. The role is based primarily at our headquarters in Vantaa. We believe innovation, collaboration and learning happen best when people work closely together, which is why we value spending time at the office while naturally supporting flexible hybrid work whenever appropriate. The position includes approximately 30–50 travel days annually, mainly related to strategic partnerships and business activities across Europe, the United States and Asia. What are we looking for and what can you expect from us? We are looking for someone with genuine drive, curiosity and ownership, someone who enjoys creating rather than maintaining. You have a Master of Laws degree and several years of relevant legal experience, most likely around 10+ years, although the substance and relevance of your experience are more important than the exact number of years. You are comfortable working independently, making sound legal judgements and acting as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders.
