Staff Engineer, Integrations

Hi there! 👋🏻 I’m Joonas, Director of Engineering & Product for Integrations at MeetingPackage, and we’re looking for our first Staff Engineer for Integrations. We re-engineer how the world meets by building technology that transforms an entire industry. Transforming an industry built on legacy systems happens at the integration layer. It is where our product either works for a real venue on go-live day, or it doesn’t, and where MeetingPackage wins or loses customers. Today, every complex integration question lands with a single person: roughly 250 requests a month across 30 channels, half of them specific to a single customer. When an integration question waits, a customer’s booking, go-live or sync waits with it, and engineers get pulled away from building core features. That’s where you come in. Not by answering faster, but by making most of those questions unnecessary. You will work alongside the Director of Engineering & Product and our seven-person Integrations team, with full authority to make decisions and act, escalating only when something goes beyond your scope. It’s a high-trust relationship: you see the full picture, you call out mistakes, and your decisions are backed. You will help the team move faster and elevate those around you. You will write code, but none of it is planned feature work. You ship what came up today and the customer wanted yesterday, and you make the judgement call on whether it is safe to ship. You will not run a support desk. In this role, you will... Remove the work Design and build the integration brain, a knowledge base anyone can query through Claude, so the lookups that stall people answer themselves. Build internal tools that replace manual configuration and investigation. Spot the patterns behind recurring issues, fix them at the root, and bring structural fixes to the roadmap with evidence. Keep customers moving Own the hardest integration problems end to end: investigate why a booking didn’t sync, explain how vendor concepts map to MeetingPackage, such as why an F&B item got no function space in OPERA, and ship the fix when it’s safe. Take the first instance of any non-routine setup and turn it into something Implementations can repeat. Be the technical lead on go-lives and customer calls where integrations are at stake. Make the team faster Raise the bar for how the team investigates, documents and ships integration changes, coaching colleagues as a peer. Turn incoming requests into well-scoped work: where the data lives, what writes it and who should own it. The work spans a Drupal monolith, two Node APIs, a dashboard, a partner API, three databases and around fifteen vendor APIs. Decisions that usually take a quarter happen within an hour, across dozens of active threads. Where this goes As daily interruptions decrease, your role shifts to higher-leverage work: new integrations and vendor onboarding, the tooling and processes that keep integrations running, how the team works (including its use of AI), and giving management a clear, fact-based view of integrations. We measure the role on work removed, and we reward it with more interesting work. You’ll feel at home if you Operate at senior or staff level, with the judgement to match, whatever your title has been. Have deep production experience with TypeScript and Node, and read far more than you write in unfamiliar code across several repositories. Write SQL (Postgres, MySQL) and Mongo queries and follow requests through logs to find out why a booking behaved as it did. Are willing to open legacy PHP (Drupal 7). Verify before assuming: payload shapes come from our code, a captured payload or vendor documentation, never from a ticket. Are AI-native: you use agents to navigate unfamiliar code, verify outputs before acting and know when to ask a human. Final judgement calls and customer communication stay yours. Enjoy working with our global customers from day one and can explain how an integration behaves to a non-technical audience. Have strong product sense: you see the pattern behind ten one-off requests and judge what should be configured, built or declined.
