Junior Software Engineer

Role overview As a Junior Software Engineer at SemiQon, you will form a key part of the Design team, supporting our product and R&D teams as we develop our cryo-optimized CMOS technology. You will work with our hardware experts to extract data from legacy sources, design data visualization tools, and help develop the data analysis architecture. You will also contribute to SemiQon’s internal software tools, including graphical interfaces for critical processes. The ideal candidate is a team player who is eager to learn and adaptable to our ways of working. ‍ Key responsibilities Software development: Helping with implementation of different toolkits/frontend features to help with interaction with key areas in operation (GUI for running measurements, working on data analysis front end and automation, help with inventory tracking and operational overview dashboards) Data analysis: Working with json files in different formats from various periods of our internal systems. Creating a catalog of existing measurement data, dating as far back as possible. Analyzing this data to produce reports and enable the archiving of older files. ‍ Qualifications Educational background : Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant technical field, or equivalent industry experience. Knowledge of physics, particularly semiconductor and solid-state physics, is a plus. Programming proficiency : Proficiency in programming languages including Python and commonly used libraries including json, numpy, scipy, and matplotlib for data analysis and archeology. Proficiency in JavaScript, CSS, HTML a plus. Understanding of FastAPI, and Uvicorn for back-end server development tasks. Understanding of pytest and flake8 for producing test and linting platforms to ensure easy multi-contributor work flows. Understanding of common system utilities libraries including Pympler, psutil for tracking resource usage Understanding of DiskCache (or other caching processes) and parallel processing (using concurrent library) to increase usability and speed of services AI proficiency : Understanding when to use AI tools for programming and when not to. Knowing how to effectively query and verify generated code. Using AI as a tool, not a crutch. Collaborative mindset : Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical team members and to communicate complex ideas clearly.
