General Mission The Coordinator is responsible for the development and programming of the library. They organise activities and events, develop partnerships, and contribute to the librarys visitor numbers. They are also responsible for monitoring the collections, handling returned books, and keeping the library organised. Key Responsibilities 1. Library Programming and Development Increase the librarys visitor numbers and appeal, taking into account the expectations and needs of its audiences. Promote the librarys spaces and collections by developing projects and events. Develop a range of paid activities and services. Manage the library shop and coffee area. 2. Talks and Debates Design and organise talks, debates, lectures and events. Identify and invite authors, experts, associations and other relevant speakers or personalities. Encourage discussion, participation and interaction among different audiences. 3. Partnerships and Collaborations Identify, develop and maintain a network of partners. Build partnerships and joint projects with external organisations and stakeholders. 4. Library Space and Collection Management Ensure the efficient day-to-day operation of the library and report any issues or malfunctions. Handle returned books and ensure that materials are properly shelved and organised. Maintain the collections, including classification, presentation, repairs and replacement of damaged or missing items. Select and order new books and other materials. Candidate Profile We are looking for a dynamic, independent and curious person who is proactive and enjoys interacting with the public. The successful candidate will play an active role in the cultural and commercial development of a welcoming and open community space. Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence in interacting with the public and partners. Ability to create and develop partnerships. Initiative and ability to propose and deliver projects. Commercial awareness and ability to identify potential sources of funding. Strong organisational skills, autonomy and versatility. A passion for reading, discussion and the exchange of ideas. Practical Information Contract: 6-month fixed-term contract, renewable Working hours: 80%, spread over 4 days per week Salary : €2,268 gross per month Start date : October 2026 Languages: English at C1 level required; French at B2 level preferred; Knowledge of Finnish is an advantage.
