Research will cover advanced compound materials and heterostructures, novel architectures, chip design, and advanced packaging with access to Tampere’s micro- and nanofabrication facilities and the SiPFAB platform. The full-time positions will be filled for a fixed-term period of 3 years and are connected to Tampere University’s FutureChips Postdoctoral Programme and focus on fundamental technology and methods development for next-generation semiconductor technologies. The programme’s four interconnected semiconductor research areas are: Advanced compound materials and heterostructures Novel architectures Chip design Advanced packaging The positions will be located in the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences or in the Faculty of Information Technology and Communication Sciences . Job description The successful candidate will design, coordinate and implement their own research and publish results in high-impact venues. Research scope The postdoctoral research fellow will develop semiconductor technologies and the relevant knowledge base. Research environment and infrastructure Tampere University offers an excellent environment for semiconductor integration research, including strong capabilities spanning photonics, chip-level fabrication, advanced packaging, and system-level demonstrators. Tampere University has excellent micro- and nanofabrication facilities available for research and industrial R&D work. Researchers will have access to the System-in-Package Fabrication SiPFAB as a key infrastructure platform for heterogeneous System-in-Package-oriented research and packaging process development, complemented by Tampere University’s broader semiconductor fabrication and characterization infrastructure. Applicants who have successfully defended their doctoral thesis by 31 August 2026, but who have not yet formally been awarded the degree are also eligible to apply.
