Design Engineer – Power Electronics & Frequency Converters Location: Helsinki, Finland (Pitäjänmäki) Work Model: Hybrid (Up to 50% Remote) Assignment Period: 01 Sep 2026 – 31 Aug 2027 (12-Month Initial Contract) Allocation: 100% (Full-time / 37.5 hours/week) Division: High Power Product Development About the Role: - We are seeking a Design Engineer specializing in Power Electronics to join a high-power product development division in Helsinki. - In this role, you will lead the design, dimensioning, and verification of main circuits and power electronics architectures for high-power frequency converters. - You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams (mechanical, electronics, verification) and external subcontractors, playing a central role in driving product innovation from topology evaluation through to empirical testing and documentation. Core Responsibilities: - Power Electronics Design: Design, dimension, and verify main circuit architectures and power electronic components for high-power frequency converters. - Research & Innovation: Evaluate new circuit topologies, power semiconductors, inductive components, and filter designs. - Simulation & Modeling: Run comprehensive circuit and system-level simulations using tools such as Simulink. - Verification & Testing: Specify verification test plans, analyze test data and experimental results, and maintain precise design documentation. - Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with mechanical, electronic, and verification engineering teams as well as external subcontractors. - Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers within the division. Candidate Profile: - Education: M.Sc. in Power Electronics or a closely related field. - Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of electrical drive main circuit topologies, power semiconductors, inductive components, and filter design. - Simulation: Proven hands-on proficiency with Simulink or equivalent simulation software. Experience: 5+ years of relevant product development experience (candidates with exceptionally strong academic/educational backgrounds and slightly less tenure will also be considered). Languages: - English: Professional fluency required (written & spoken). - Finnish: Working proficiency is considered an advantage.
